Police ID driver killed in Vallejo crash
VALLEJO (BCN) - Vallejo police have identified a driver who died in a solo vehicle crash early Monday morning as 52-year-old Rod Christian Snell of Vallejo.
Snell was driving a 1991 Ford Probe east on Benicia Road around 3 a.m. when he either passed out or suffered a medical emergency, police Sgt. Mike Nichelini said.
The Ford drove onto a sidewalk and made a slow, sweeping arc across Laurel Street before it struck a large tree near a liquor store, Nichelini said. There was no sign of the vehicle braking, the sergeant said.
It appears Snell was not restrained in the vehicle, Nichelini said. He was found slumped and unresponsive over the steering wheel and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
