HAYWARD (KTVU) -- Police in Hayward are investigating a shooting that may have occurred between two vehicles.

The incident was reported around 5 p.m. when police received calls of shots fired in the parking lot of Sorendale Recreation Center near West Tennyson near Harvey Avenue. Officers thought the incident was going to be much worse because members of a little league team were warming up when the shots were fired.

Several law enforcement officers could be seen in the area. Police cars could be seen surrounding a green Honda with a bullet hole in one window and its back window shot out. Police said that a juvenile and an adult who were in that car were arrested on unrelated charges.

KTVU had spotted a person being detained from Skyfox.

"Officers came over here...reports of shots fired...baseball game going on...two groups in a shooting. Both left the scene. Inside was a person with [a] gunshot wound," said Sgt. Ryan Cantrell.

"They all ran. My son told his brother go over the fence hop the fence. They were trying to get out." said Aries.

She said she arrived to the park early to prepare snacks.  That's when she noticed two cars in the parking lot.  She said one left but another showed up soon after. "I heard the bang, bang, bang, bang, back and forth.  I came out here and saw two cars speeding away.

According to police, the victim was taken to the hospital, but their condition is unknown. It is unknown if they will face any charges.

Police said they are looking for a white car that got away that is believed to be involved in the incident. It was only vaguely described as a four-door. The victim and his passengers were not cooperating with police to provide them much information.

It was not immediately clear what prompted the incident.

No one at the nearby park was hurt.
