Police: Man ran over and killed acquaintance on purpose
OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - Here's the Rap Sheet for Jan. 22, 2016:
FATAL CRASH DEEMED A HOMICIDE: San Jose police have arrested a 79-year-old suspect in a vehicular homicide.
The suspect, Ernest Cervantes, is accused of intentionally running over a 62-year-old acquaintance on Delmas Avenue and Santa Clara Street about 4:50 a.m. Jan. 15.
Cervantes was arrested Thursday, and the full-size white pickup truck involved in the crash was found and recovered, police said.
KNOW THE "HEFTY HEISTER?" The FBi is asking for the public's help in identifying a prolific bank robber they've dubbed the "Hefty Heister" because of his girth.
Officials say the man is responsible for these holdups:
December 3, 2015: Exchange Bank Located at 6290 Commerce Boulevard, Rohnert Park
December 21, 2015: Tri Counties Bank located inside Raley’s at 2400 Sand Creek Road, Brentwood
December 22, 2015: Wells Fargo Bank located inside Safeway at 1978 Contra Costa Boulevard, Pleasant Hill
December 31, 2015: Bank of Rio Vista located at 14211 River Road, Walnut Grove
January 9, 2016: US Bank located inside Raley’s at 270 Sunset Avenue , Suisun City
January 14, 2016: US Bank located inside Safeway at 3110 Balfour Road, Brentwood
January 19, 2016: US Bank located inside Safeway at 2449 West Kettleman Lane, Lodi
January 19, 2016: Tri Counties Bank located inside Raley’s at 4900 Elk Grove Boulevard, Elk Grove.
He usually presents a demand note that mentions he has a weapon.
Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI or local law enforcement.
