The Hercules Police Department has released a sketch of a suspect in a recently reported sexual assault that allegedly occurred on a walking trail in January.

Around 7 p.m. on Jan. 4, a woman was headed east on the Refugio Valley Road walking trail near Partridge Drive when she was approached from behind by a man who put a gun to her head.

The suspect ordered her into a secluded wooded area nearby and sexually assaulted her, police said.

He's described as an unshaven black man in his 30s who is roughly 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing sunglasses, a black beanie, a gray hooded sweatshirt, a black watch and a silver bracelet.

The suspect smelled strongly of marijuana, police said.
