Police search for women accused of stealing wallets in Walnut Creek

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KTVU) - The search is on for two women accused of stealing the wallets of unsuspecting restaurant patrons in Walnut Creek.

Walnut Creek police now hope new surveillance video will help their investigation.

The two women were seated at a table when one of them reaches behind her and grabs the wallet out of a woman's purse.

Police believe the pair are responsible for three separate wallet thefts between July 27th and August 5th.

Investigators say the women immediately started using the stolen credit cards at nearby businesses and at Sun Valley Mall in Concord.

Police say one of the women acts as a lookout, while the other snatches the wallets.

Anyone who recognizes the women is asked to call Walnut Creek police.

Police have not released details on where exactly the thefts occurred.
