Here's the Rap Sheet for Jan. 27, 2016:

PORCH PIRATES SOUGHT: Mountain View police are asking for the public's help in identifying a couple of package pillagers.

Two young men and two teenage girls were spotted walking near a home on the 200 block of Beatrice Street about 2:45 p.m. Jan. 11.

The girls stole two packages from the front porch and then left. Fifteen minutes later, however, one of the males is seen walking by the home "carrying an orange bag that was consistent with the contents belonging inside one of the boxes," police said.

The second male is seen walking up to the end of the driveway, watching the street for any witnesses.

The two girls then go back up the porch, and one of them began "shaking the lock to try and open the front door," authorities said. One of the girls spots the camera, and the group quickly leaves.

Police have since identified the teenage girls but have not yet found the young men.

One of the females notices the camera, and the two quickly leave the front porch and walk down the street.

Anyone with information is asked to call Mountain View police at (650) 903-6395.

WAYWARD PEDESTRIANS BEWARE: Oakland police will be conducting a pedestrian-safety operation on Monday, looking for both people on foot and in cars who are breaking the law.

Police did not disclose where they'll be stepping up enforcement, saying only, "Routine traffic patrols will focus efforts in trouble spots while special targeted patrols will also be deployed to focus on drivers and pedestrians who violate traffic laws meant to protect all roadway users."

Drivers who speed, make illegal turns, fail to stop for signs and signals and don't yield to pedestrians will be targeted, as will pedestrians who cross the street illegally or don't yield to drivers who have the right of way.

Oakland police say they've investigated 876 fatal and injury collisions involving pedestrians in the past three years.

NIKE THIEVES SOUGHT: San Jose police hope surveillance video will result in the identification of four young men who stole items from a Nike store.

The incident happened at the store at 1300 Saratoga Ave. inside the Westgate Mall about 7:15 p.m. Dec. 20. The suspects went inside and took items without paying for them. They fled in a bronze Hyundai.

Anyone with information is asked to contact San Jose police Detective Sergeant Mike Montonye at (408) 277-4401.
