Psychology student who grew up in Oakland missing in Iowa

Mollie Tibbetts, who grew up in Oakland, is now missing in Iowa.

A 20-year-old woman who grew up in Oakland and now attends the University of Iowa has been missing since July 18.

Mollie Tibbetts went out for a nighttime jog about 11 days ago in the town of Brookyln, Iowa, where she is a psychology student at the university, the Mercury News reported.

Her family hasn't seen or heard from her since. Her father lives in Oakland's Glenview neighborhood, where she spent some of her early years.

Her family revealed over the weekend that Tibbetts may have actually finished her jog, and came back to her boyfriend's home. She was dog sitting for him, while he was out of town.

Her family told the Washington Post that she logged onto her computer that night and she sent her boyfriend a Snapchat video that appeared to be taken in the home.

Police say her boyfriend is not a suspect.

The Poweshiek County Emergency Management Agency asks that if anyone has information, they call 641 623-5679. A Facebook page, Finding Mollie Tibbetts, has been created to keep interested parties updated.
