Racing drivers sought after fatal Oakland hit-and-run: police

Oakland police are searching for two drivers who they say fled from the scene of a violent crash that killed an innocent bystander.

Investigators believe those drivers were racing each other about 1 a.m. Monday before one car lost control and veered off the road at 82nd Avenue and International boulevard. That’s when a 49-year-old man was walking along International Boulevard when a car slammed into him. The impact took out a metal fence and the car stopped at a nearby Walgreens store.

Police say the driver of a black Dodge Charger veered off the road killing the man before taking off after the crash. Police say the driver of a Charge was racing a driver of a maroon BMW 320. That BMW was found abandoned up the road.

Police now want to find both drivers.
