Remains of woman, toddler, infant found in trailer in San Benito Co. wildfire
SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KTVU) - A woman, toddler and infant were apparently killed in the Panoche Fire as it burned in San Benito County.
According to the San Benito County Sheriff's Office, crews responded at 11:30 p.m. Monday to the fire as it scorched grassland in the area.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found a camping trailer engulfed in flames, along with the remains of an adult victim.
Detectives called to the scene identified the adult as a woman. They also found remains of what are believed to be a toddler and infant.
Investigators are working on identities and notifying the next of kin.
CalFire tells KTVU the Panoche Fire had burned 64 acres, and was 85 percent contained by Tuesday afternoon.
CalFire is investigating the origin and cause of the fire.
