San Franciscans bid farewell to sweltering August

SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU and wires) – The dog days of summer were also some of the warmest in San Francisco history.

In the month of August, the average daily low temperature in San Francisco was 60.2 degrees, according to KTVU meteorologist Steve Paulson.  That’s 4.6 degrees above normal and the second warmest in the city since temperatures have been measured.

It was just edged out by 0.01 of a degree by the August of 1993 for the warmest daily low of all-time.

However, August did set a record 15 days for the number of days the high for the day’s low temperatures was either tied or surpassed.

On August 16th, a new high temperature of 90 degrees was also registered.
