San Francisco police standoff ends in suspect's arrest

A standoff with a domestic violence suspect in San Francisco's Mission District ended Friday afternoon when the suspect surrendered.

Officers arrested the man at about 3:15 p.m. at his apartment building at 1803 Folsom St.  His identity was not immediately available.

The standoff started Friday morning when the suspect's wife went to the apartment to get her belongings. Police Thursday issued a temporary restraining order against the husband, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza

Police surrounded the apartment building on Folsom Street at 10:30 a.m. after they went there to arrest the man and he would not come out of the unit.

Officers also responded to the apartment at about 5 p.m. Thursday, according to a resident of the building.

The apartment is an interior unit, Esparza said. Police asked neighbors near the unit to shelter in place, but no one else.

Traffic in the area was not affected.
