San Jose man exiting bus hit and killed by car

SAN JOSE (BCN) - Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a 22-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday evening in East San Jose.

Around 6:40 p.m. officers responded to a report of a vehicular accident involving a pedestrian near South King Road and Waverly Avenue, according to police.

After a preliminary investigation, officers determined the victim had exited a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority bus.

The victim then ran behind the bus and onto the roadway, when a black 1997 BMW traveling south on South King Road struck him, according to police.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he died a few hours later, police said.

The incident is the city's 52nd fatal traffic accident this year, according to police.
