San Jose mom raises money for special bike for disabled son

On Friday, Tony was able to borrow a specially designed bike. He used to ride it at his previous school for special needs children, but his current school doesn't have one.

A bike would need to be custom built for Tony's size and ability, which would cost $3,000.

"It's a special bike with a harness and belt that goes around his feet. It has steering wheel in the back so we can steer him."

Insurance won't cover the cost. So the family is trying to raise the money through an online fundraising website

"The bike, it would be like his dream come true. I love my boy. Anything I can do for him," she said.

Tony's mother says if her son is able to build up his leg muscles through bike riding, it may also help improve his ability to walk.
