San Jose P.D. investigating suspicious death; body found near creek
SAN JOSE, Calif. (BCN) - A body found near a creek in San Jose Friday morning is being investigated as a suspicious death, a police spokesman said.
Officers responded to a report of an adult male body found by a creek in the 1800 block of Pine Hollow Circle shortly after 11 a.m., police Officer Albert Morales said.
Fire crews were also called to the scene and pronounced the person dead soon after they arrived, Morales said.
Police are looking into the circumstances surrounding the death and homicide detectives have responded to the scene, he said.
Police indicated if there was a crime, it may have happened at a different location from where the body was found.
The small creek sits across from homes and kitty-corner to a school. The creek's bed is where a man, who only gave his first name, Joseph, has been camping. He said he discovered the body Friday morning.
Police are releasing few details about the condition of the body and how long it might have been at the creek.
Neighbors reported hearing a car and commotion overnight. The investigation is now turning to potential witnesses and surveillance cameras.
Joseph said the victim did not appear to be homeless. Anyone with information should contact San Jose police.
