San Jose Police arrest suspect in series of armed robberies

The San Jose Police Department’s Robbery Unit has identified and arrested a suspect in connection with the following armed robberies in the Cities of San Jose and Milpitas:

  • 2-23-18, 7:03 PM: Jack in the Box, 1740 S Main Street, Milpitas
  • 2-23-18, 9:24 PM: Valero Gas Station, 3939 Snell Avenue, San Jose
  • 2-28-18, 2:45 AM: Arco Gas Station, 4610 Pearl Avenue, San Jose
  • 3-1-18, 1:15 PM: 7-Eleven, 1421 Branham Lane, San Jose
  • 3-3-18, 3:19 AM: 7-Eleven, 1413 Kooser Road, San Jose

San Jose PD Robbery detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Daniel Mendoza after San Jose patrol officers conducted follow-up investigation and identified him as the suspect.

On March 3, 2018, Mendoza was arrested in the City of San Jose by San Jose PD Covert Response Unit officers.

He was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on five counts of Robbery - penal code 211.

Detectives believe Mendoza is responsible for additional robberies throughout the bay area.

In the majority of the robberies, Mendoza pointed a handgun at the clerk and took cash and/or lottery scratchers.

Mendoza usually fled the scene in a 2017 Black Jeep Renegade with black and yellow paper plates.
