San Jose police officer injured in patrol car collision with SUV
SAN JOSE, Calif. (KTVU) - A San Jose police officer was injured Wednesday morning when an SUV slammed into his patrol car, sending it onto the sidewalk.
Video at the scene shows paramedics treating the officer about 2 a.m. at the intersection of Tully and King roads. He was put on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital. A light pole was knocked down during the collision.
In an email, San Jose police said the officer had been released from the hospital. The officer was struck as he was traveling west on Tully Road, police said.
San Jose police Sgt. Enrique Garcia said officers cited the SUV driver for running a red light, adding that he was cooperative and is not suspected of being under the influence.
