Fire did substantial damage to a house tonight on Heather Drive in San Pablo, just west of San Pablo Avenue, a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District spokesman said.

No one was injured but seven people were displaced from their home, said Con Fire spokesman Steve Hill.

Firefighters were called about 8:27 p.m. to Heather Drive to find the back of the house engulfed in flames, Hill said. About 20 firefighters fought the blaze, and took about an hour to bring the fire under control.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation tonight. The American Red Cross was called in to provide shelter to the house's displaced residents, Hill said.
