San Rafael police find young man dead of a gunshot wound inside a vehicle

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (BCN) - Police have lifted a shelter-in-place order for the area around Pickleweed Park at 50 Canal St. in San Rafael, though they are now actively investigating a homicide in the area.

Around 6 p.m. on Monday police received reports of a possible shooting at the location. Arriving officers found the victim of a gunshot wound inside a vehicle. Police describe the victim as a young male who was confirmed dead at the scene. 

Witnesses told police they saw an unknown male running from the area immediately after the shooting.

Police had asked residents to report any suspicious activity after calling off the shelter-in-place.
