Santa Cruz officers shoot, kill violent man
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KTVU) - Santa Cruz officers were involved in a violent confrontation that resulted in officers shooting the suspect.
The 32-year-old suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
At around 3:30 Sunday morning, Santa Cruz Police responded to a call of a disturbance at a home on the 200 block of Chace Street.
The call described a man "pounding" on his front door. While officers were in route, the caller said the subject was now at the back door of his home and yelling that he wanted to kill everyone inside.
Once officers arrived, they located the subject in the backyard of the home. In attempting to take the subject into custody, he attacked the officers with a metal bow rake.
The suspect continued to attack, and refused the officer's commands to drop the weapon.
Officers then deployed Tasers, which were not effective in stopping the suspect, according to police.
The officers then shot the suspect.
The suspect's identity is not being released at this time.
