OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf is the guest of honor at a fundraiser where she celebrates her 50th birthday as the city’s 50th mayor. Proceeds from Saturday night’s gala, called ‘50 years of Oakland Love’, go to the East Bay College Fund, which helps support low-income Oakland public high school students through college.
Individual tickets priced at $250 are sold out, but sponsor tickets ranging from $10,000 and $15,000 are still available. 100 percent of the proceeds from the event go to the fund. 50 students will receive the scholarship, handpicked by Schaaf to be the beneficiary, because of its success in helping underserved students achieve access to college.
East Bay College Fund sent out a tweet saying that rapper Doug E. Fresh would be making an appearance as a DJ at the after-party where tickets are priced at $100. Both events will be held at the Historic West Oakland Train Station at 1601 Wood Street.
