NOVATO (KTVU & BCN) -- The mayor of Novato and the city's police chief said Friday afternoon that the search for a third suspect in the double shooting that left one Novato high school student dead and another injured was ongoing.

The Marin County Sheriff identified the victim who was killed as Edwin Josue Ramirez Guerra, 17, of San Rafael. Authorities have not yet identified the other victim who survived the attack.

The Sheriff's Office tweeted that forensic tests including toxicology are scheduled for early next week to determine the cause and manner of Guerra's death.

Authorities have said two suspects have been detained in high-risk tactical raids in the city and a search continued for a third suspect, Marin County sheriff's officials said. The sheriff's office tweeted earlier that all of the parties involved, the suspects and victims, were students at the high school.

Authorities have been searching for suspects after two Novato high school students were shot at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the end of Fairway Drive. Deputies responded and found one victim who had been shot and stabbed, as well as a second who was fatally shot. The student who survived was said to be in stable condition, authorities have said.

The incident prompted Novato Unified School District  officials to cancel classes the following day. Officials have not released the identities of the victims or the suspects.
