Secret Service search for homicide fugitive leads to 8-hour standoff in Fairfield
FAIRFIELD, Calif. (BCN) - Fairfield police and federal authorities tried to apprehend a homicide fugitive federal authorities thought was inside a home on Shenandoah Court.
A standoff at the home in the 3300 block of Shenandoah Court ended around 3:15 p.m. when the Police Department's SWAT team fired tear gas into the residence. Six people came out.
Four of the occupants were taken into custody on warrants and two were taken into custody on probable cause for arrest, U.S. Marshals spokesman Mike McCloud said. The fugitive was not located, McCloud said.
The U.S. Secret Service and U.S. Marshals Service requested help from Fairfield police around 7 a.m., Lt. Mike Bloesch said.
A spokeswoman for the Secret Service did not release any information about the search because she said the agency does not release information about pending investigations.
