Shark spotted off coast of Pacifica Beach

Police are warning about a shark that was seen at a popular beach along the coast here in Pacifica. It's the second time a shark has been spotted there in the past 30 days.

On Friday morning our KTVU crew saw dozens of surfers in the water, off the coast of Linda Mar Beach. Many had heard about the shark, but it wasn't stopping them.

Pacifica Police spotted the shark Thursday around noon. It was about 80 yards of shore. Police described the shark as about six feet in length.

Most of the surfers our KTVU crew spoke with say the size of the shark sounds small, like a juvenile shark, so that's why they're not too concerned. Authorities put out an alert warning people because they want surfers and swimmers to be aware of their surroundings while in the water.

A shark was also spotted at Linda Mar Beach last month.

Sightings aren't reported frequently, but authorities like to keep people informed.
