Sierra ski season is open with several feet of snow on the slopes

OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - Sierra Nevada and Lake Tahoe ski resorts are picking up right where they left off last year with a big dump of snow leading into the week of Thanksgiving. 

And if you're headed up to the mountains this weekend, you're not alone. The latest storm brought several feet of new snow and the slopes are ready for you. 

Major resorts have opened their slopes, including Heavenly, as seen in the video above, where skiers and boarders were greeted by over a foot of fresh snow.
