Still looking for a Halloween costume? Here's some top sellers
OAKLAND, Calif (KTVU) - With just three days until Halloween, The lines are long at Spirit Halloween in Oakland.
"We're real busy everyone is coming in around this time to get last minute items," says Janay Washington of Spirit Halloween Store.
Gone are the days of the princess costumes being the most popular for little girls. According to the National Retail Federation, children are trading in their crowns for capes. As superheroes are their top pick. The same can be said for adults, as Batman characters are top sellers for guys and Harley Quinn for women. But at this store the presidential candidates are giving those two a run for their money.
"Maybe I'll do a little bit of Hillary with a Trump hat," says Chris Galbicsek of Oakland.
"Hillary is selling really well. Donald not really," says Washington.
But at SF Party in San Francisco, it’s just the opposite.
"Everybody loves the Donald Trump mask with the hair. Hillary not so much but Trump because they think it’s more funny and nobody likes him in this neighborhood," says Justine Weathers of SF Party. SF Party workers say they try to be a bit more responsible when it comes to Halloween. That's why you won't see any realistic looking guns or scary clown costumes at their store. "My son is scared of clowns now after seeing the commercials and the things that’s going on," says Sherell Lewis of Oakland.
Either way Halloween, is just a few days away and people on both sides of the bay know it’s the one day of the year they can wear anything they want. "We have a white body suit which is amazing and it will probably fit pretty well and a boa. Feathers beads and where trying a little of everything and I found this guy," says Hannah Renner of San Francisco
