LOS GATOS, Calif. - The driver of an alleged stolen car crashed into a brick wall early Wednesday morning while fleeing from police, officials say.
The Details:
Police from the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department posted details of what happened to social media along with photographs.
Police said they responded to the area of Fancher Court at around 6 a.m. for a possible auto burglary in progress. Police said they spotted a "suspicious" vehicle being driven by a person who matched a suspect description.
When police attempted a traffic stop of the suspect, they said the driver fled onto Winchester Boulevard at high speeds.
The driver didn't make it far and crashed into the structure. Photos show the vehicle's front tires going over the low brick wall that acts as a planter.
Police said the suspect fled the scene on foot. But was spotted by an officer inside a ride-share vehicle.
Police did not detail how ride-share was stopped, but the suspect, a 39-year-old East Palo Alto man, was arrested and booked into jail.
The stolen car was taken from an area resident, police said.
