Strong storm system to arrive in Bay Area

A storm system will move through the Bay Area later Wednesday through early Thursday, bringing strong winds with heavy rain at times.

Showers will begin in the North Bay Wednesday afternoon with more widespread rainfall by Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

A wind advisory is in effect for the San Francisco and Monterey Bay Region for Thursday. Drivers should plan to allow extra time for a messy Thursday morning commute.

KTVU's Steve Paulson says this is the biggest system we'll see since Jan. 8.

He says we could likely see snow at low levels of 2,000 feet Friday and Saturday morning.
