Student finds creative way to receive diploma from her hospital bed

MOBILE, Ala. - A high school student in Alabama was hospitalized just before her graduation, but that didn't stop her from participating.

Cynthia Pettway got creative and figured out a way to receive her diploma at the ceremony without ever leaving her bed.

A robot zipped across the stage in Cynthia's place as she watched from an attached iPad.

The hospital and school system teamed up to provide the robot and the two iPads.

Cynthia said graduation was important to her as she worked hard for her diploma, even going to night classes.

And so she, and nearly 40 family members, watched the live stream of the graduation from the hospital and celebrated Cynthia's achievement.
