Suspect arrested in San Jose homicide identified

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KTVU) -- Police in San Jose have identified the suspect in custody for a Monday homicide at an apartment building on South Third Street as San Jose resident Hugo Castro.

According to police, on Monday morning at 10:21 a.m., officers responded to 25 S. 3rd St. on a welfare check. Officers arrived and discovered a deceased adult female victim with at least one stab wound.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and suspect are known to each other and had a prior dating relationship.

The location of the crime was determined to belong to a third party. There are no outstanding suspects. Castro will be booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for murder.

The identity of the victim will not be released until the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office confirms the victim's identity and notifies next of kin.

KTVU cameras saw authorities remove a body from inside shortly before 5 40 p.m.
