Suspect carjacks woman, runs her over with her own car
FREMONT, Calif. - A man has been charged after allegedly carjacking a woman and then running her over with her car in Fremont, officials said.
George Green was charged with carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon, leaving the scene of an accident, unlawful driving or taking a vehicle, and receiving stolen property, the Alameda County District Attorney's Office said. All of these counts are felonies.
The backstory:
The 21-year-old allegedly forced the victim out of her car on Nov. 8, 2024 at a parking lot in Fremont. He then "willfully and unlawfully" used the car as a deadly weapon to strike the victim.
According to officials, Green was on probation, mandatory supervision, post-release community supervision or parole when the incident happened.
He was arraigned Friday in Dublin and is facing around 23 years in prison if convicted.
What we don't know:
It's unclear what injuries the victim may have suffered. Officials also didn't provide the time of day the crime occurred or where in Fremont.
