Suspect dead in E. San Jose officer-involved shooting

SAN JOSE (BCN)-- Police in San Jose are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left a suspect dead this evening in East San Jose.

The incident occurred near North White and Penitencia Creek roads, according to Sgt. Enrique Garcia.

Police say based on preliminary information, that a vehicle stop was made on a suspect who had a felony warrant for robbery around 7:04 p.m. 

According to Sergeant Albert Morales, shots were fired during the stop.The suspect was struck at least once. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police say the homicide unit is taking over the investigation. 

It was unclear whether any roads in the area were closed.
