A crash late Wednesday night in San Jose, caused a power outage and shut down a major road for hours.

Authorities say a 16-year-old boy crashed an SUV into a power pole on Almaden Expressway, near Rajkovich Way, at about 11:30 p.m.

The impact of the crash took down high tension power lines.

At one point, electricity went out to 2,300 PG&E customers.

Utility crews eventually restored power, but it would take the entire morning, to replace the pole.

Emergency crews had a difficult time getting the teenager out of the vehicle, because of the downed power lines.

The boy suffered a broken leg, but is expected to be okay.

A section of the expressway was closed early Thursday morning.

Authorities hoped to open one lane for the morning commute, but said that Almaden Expressway would stay partially closed, between Rajkovich Way and Almaden Road for some 12 hours.
