Tassajara Fire 100 percent contained

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (BCN) - The Tassajara Fire, which burned 1,086 acres in Monterey County, has been 100 percent contained, Cal Fire announced Sunday night.

The fire first began on Sept. 19 on Tassajara Road at Cachagua Road, near the communities of Jamesburg and Cachagua.

The fire destroyed 12 homes and eight outbuildings and resulted in at least one home being damaged, according to Cal Fire.

There has been one civilian fatality connected to the fire. A man's body was found just outside a car in the fire area last weekend.

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death, Cal Fire officials said.

All evacuation orders and road closures have been lifted, according to Cal Fire.

Cal Fire confirmed the fire was caused by humans but did not provide an official cause.
