Teen in custody after San Jose injury hit-and-run

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KTVU) – A 16-year-old was in custody early Wednesday after a hit-and-run crash that left as 4-year-old child hospitalized, authorities said.
San Jose police said the incident took place at around 6:47 p.m. Tuesday at the Valley Palms Apartment complex on Lanai Avenue in East San Jose.
The teen was allegedly driving a red vehicle that struck the 4-year-old and then fled the scene. A short time later the suspect and the vehicle were located near the 200 block of Cedar Lane.
The 16-year-old was taken into custody and was being held at juvenile hall.
The youngster was taken to the hospital and was being treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said. The child's condition was not known early Wednesday.
The incident remains under investigation,
