Thief targeting stores in Petaluma

PETALUMA, Calif. (KTVU and Wires) -- Police in Petaluma are asking for the public's help in finding the person who stole from two stores Friday night, said authorities.

The thefts occurred at the Dick's Sporting Goods at 401 Kenilworth Drive, and Freidman's Home Improvement at 429 N. McDowell Boulevard, according to police.

The suspect entered Dick's Sporting Goods, and stole a crossbow, golf club and a lacrosse stick before leaving in a red, four-door sedan, said authorities.

The value of the stolen goods is estimated at $300.

Shortly after the theft, someone went to Friedman's, took two pelican cases valued at roughly $200 each, and left in a red, four door sedan, according to police.

Investigators believe the same suspect is responsible for both thefts.

The suspect is described as a white man, standing around six feet tall and approximately 20 years old. He was last wearing a camouflage shirt, black jeans, and white tennis shoes with a black and red baseball hat.
