Thousands gather for March for Science in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU and AP) - Thousands of people are gathering in San Francisco in a March for Science.

Participants are marching  from Justin Herman Plaza to Civic Center Plaza, as part of the nationwide project.

More than 500 such marches are planned across the country, anchored in Washington. Organizers say the marches stem from science-related budget cuts, such as proposed 20 percent slice of the National Institute of Health.
