Toddler hit, killed in Sonoma Co. crosswalk

A 3-year-old boy in Sonoma County died after being hit by a pickup truck.

It happened Sunday at about 6 p.m. on Railroad and Verano avenues, just outside Sonoma.

The CHP says the little boy and his family were crossing the street in a crosswalk when it happened.

The boy was in a stroller with another child.

As they were waiting to cross the street, the family saw the truck stop near the crosswalk and they began to walk. When they were about 12 to 15 feet into the crosswalk, they saw the vehicle move forward. They pulled the stroller out of the truck's way, but the 3-year-old boy fell out and was hit by the truck.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The boy killed in the accident has been identified as Owen Todeschini.

The CHP says the driver stopped, and cooperated with the investigation.
