Top Yo-Yo Competitors Gather in Oakland for Yo-Yo Championships
PLEASANT HILL, Calif. (KTVU/BCN) - The Bay Area Classic Yo-Yo Championships, one of the longest-running and largest yo-yo contests in the United States, came to Jack London Square Saturday.
Having garnered global respect and admiration, some of the most venerated and skilled players in the world were in attendance to compete for a cash prize and title.
More than 100 participants competed, with viewer attendance exceeding 2,500 throughout the day.
Lorenzo Peñacerrada from Brentwood is one of the competitors, and he stopped by Mornings on Two to show off some of his skill before the event began on Saturday. Peñacerrada's YouTube channel is filled with Yo-Yo videos, and has amassed millions of views.
