Train in Hayward kills man in his 20s near high school

HAYWARD, Calif. - A Union Pacific train struck and killed a man in Hayward near a high school early Thursday morning, company officials said. 

Hayward police said the man was in his 20s. The death was reported about 8 a.m. on the tracks near Tennyson High School.

The train crew was not hurt and the death is being investigated by Union Pacific, spokesman Tim S. McMahan said.
