San Jose Fire Department is working a two-alarm fire and gas leak Tuesday night at 1100 West San Carlos Street that broke out just before 9 p.m.

KTVU's Jesse Gary reports  from the scene that witnesses from inside a music studio at the location said a black truck drove into a building and ruptured a gas line.

The business that caught fire is Musik Ink Studios, a 24-hour rehearsal studio with a tattoo shop. The extent of damage is unknown, but the renter said thousands of dollars of equipment are damaged.

Brian Curless said he rescued 20 people safely, but that the truck driver "ran off".

Heavy smoke is still coming from the scene, but SJFD is hosing down the area. Meanwhile, PG&E has cut the ruptured gas line.

The fire department is doing exterior firefighting, but is worried about gas levels inside the building.

Roads are closed in the area.
