Tuesday storm brings strong rain to Bay Area

BAY AREA, Calif. (KTVU) - It's beginning to sound like a broken record, but another strong storm is brought significant rain to the Bay Area's Tuesday morning commute.

KTVU meteorologist Steve Paulson predicted as much as 4-5" inches of rain in the Santa Cruz mountains with several inches also falling across the rest of the Bay Area.

As of 4:30am, minor flooding had been reported on Bay Area roads from Marin County into San Francisco and Alameda Counties.  

This storm is projected to bring more minor flooding to urban small streams as the rainfall totals continue to grow.

The Sierra Nevada is also expected to get another dose of snow from this latest storm, but only at the higher elevations because of the mild temperatures.

Chains were required Tuesday morning on Interstate 80, but not Highway 50 into the Lake Tahoe region.

This system is expected to move out of the Bay Area by the afternoon and the forecast will remain largely dry until Friday when the next rain-making system is projected to hit California.
