Two arrested in connection with mass shooting in downtown Oakland

OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - - Two arrests have been made in connection with a mass shooting that occurred early Saturday morning, in downtown Oakland, said police.

The two suspects, ages 28 and 21, suffered gunshot wounds and are listed in stable condition at the hospital.

Oakland Police Media Relations announced Saturday morning, that there are a total of 6 shooting victims - 4 women and 2 men.

Their ages range from 17 to 28. One victim is in critical condition, while the others are in stable condition.

Just after midnight, police received calls about a shooting on the 400 block of 14th Street, which is close to Oakland City Hall and Frank Ogawa Plaza.

Some officers who happened to be nearby, heard the gunfire.

"We responded and located multiple victims," said Acting Lt. Rachel Van Sloten. "We transported some victims to the hospital. Some victims transported themselves, and the Investigation at this point is ongoing."

Authorities announced that further updates will come Monday morning.

The Oakland Police Department Felony Assault Section investigators are working on the case.
