Oakland police on Thursday morning said they tried to stop a car reported to be connected to multiple armed robberies and when the driver didn't stop, a chase ensued resulting in two officer injuries, two suspect injuries and the recovery of a loaded firearm.

Officer Johnna Watson said the officers spotted the suspect vehicle about 1:30 a.m. She said the driver did not stop at a stop sign and ended up crashing into a patrol car at 9th Avenue and E. 12th Street. Two officers inside the car were taken to a hospital. Watson said they are in stable condition and she did not specify their injuries.

Watson also not specify what made officers believe these suspects were tied to multiple armed robberies or provide a description of the suspect vehicle.

After the crash, officers arrested the driver and passenger of the suspect vehicle. They were also injured and taken to the hospital in stable condition. Watson did not identify them. But she did say that officers recovered a loaded firearm from inside their car.
