U.S. Coast Guard exhibit unveiled at Hamilton Field History Museum
NOVATO, Calif. (BCN) - A new exhibit was unveiled Saturday at Novato's Hamilton Field History Museum where residents and visitors can now learn more about the U.S. Coast Guard's Pacific Strike Team and the families who have lived at Hamilton Field, Coast Guard officials said.
The exhibit titled "Honoring Hamilton History" was the idea of 17-year-old Megan Gimple, who is the daughter of Coast Guard 11th District Chief of Staff Capt. Matt Gimple.
Megan is a junior at Novato High School and she spent more than 100 hours creating and assembling the exhibit, which was part of her Girl Scouts Gold Award project.
The exhibit consists of photographs, unit patches and uniforms of the Pacific Strike Team as well as memorabilia of Coast Guard families, according to Coast Guard officials.
Megan also created a video and children's activity book.
Megan told Coast Guard officials that questions from friends and classmates gave her the idea to create the exhibit because many of them had questions about Hamilton Field.
