Underground equipment failure to blame for Berkeley outage

BERKELEY, Calif. (KTVU) - PG&E confirms an underground equipment failure was the cause of a power outage in Berkeley Tuesday night that affected 10,000 customers in the city.
Power to all customers was restored shortly before 10 p.m., according to a PG&E spokesperson.
The failure occurred around 7:30 p.m. At least 6,500 customers are still without service as of 9:30 p.m.
