UPS big rig crashes in Pleasanton onramp to I-580
PLEASANTON, Calif. (KTVU) - A crash involving a UPS big rig, forced the closure of the onramp to eastbound Interstate 580 in Pleasanton early Wednesday morning.
The wreck happened at about 1 a.m. at the Hacienda onramp.
The truck driver told the highway patrol that he was eating a bag of pretzels, when he somehow lost consciousness, and the big rig went out of control.
The vehicle knocked down a lamp post, and ended up on its side.
Another car behind the truck ran over the light post, and suffered a flat tire.
No one was hurt in the crash, as the UPS truck driver was able to crawl out of his vehicle.
A CHP officer does not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
The onramp was closed but later reopened.
