USGS reports magnitude 2.7 earthquake in Pleasant Hill

The US Geological Survey is reporting that an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.7 struck near Pleasant Hill Thursday afternoon.

The quake occurred at 1:53 p.m. approximately two miles west of Pleasant Hill with a depth of 7.3 miles. So far there were no reports of damage.

Earlier Thursday, an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.8 was recorded near Gilroy, according to the USGS.

The quake was reported at 10:28 a.m. and was located 4 miles west-southwest of Gilroy and 10 miles south of Morgan Hill, USGS officials said.

The temblor had a depth of 4.9 miles, according to the USGS.
