Vegetation fire threatens homes near community of Briones
A vegetation fire was threatening structures Saturday afternoon near the unincorporated Contra Costa County community of Briones, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
BRIONES, Calif. - A vegetation fire of eight acres was 80% contained Saturday afternoon near the unincorporated Contra Costa County community of Briones, Cal Fire said.
The fire was reported about 3:11 p.m. near Rancho La Boca and Rancho Del Lago roads in the Martinez area, Cal Fire Assistant Chief Steven Blythe said.
Four air tankers and two helicopters were involved in halting the progress of the blaze, which was fought by crews from Cal Fire and the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, he said.
