Vehicle hits mother, toddler on bicycle in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) - A vehicle struck a mother and child on a bicycle in San Francisco's Inner Richmond neighborhood Friday afternoon after the driver ran a red light, according to police.

Police were called to 7th Avenue and Geary Boulevard around 3:45 p.m. on a report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and cyclist.

Officers found that a mother and her toddler daughter were struck while they were riding on a bicycle.

The mother suffered a broken leg and the toddler only bumps and bruises. They were taken to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment and both are expected to survive, police said.

Investigators believe the driver ran a red light before the collision, police said.

The collision blocked traffic until shortly before 5 p.m.
