Virgin Mary stands unscathed amidst the ashes from wine country fires

NAPA, Calif. (KTVU) - The family owned Signorello Estate Winery was obliterated by the Atlas Peak Fire in Napa. There’s nearly nothing left, except a lone figurine. Standing amidst the ashes is an unscathed statue of the Virgin Mary.

The ominous scene shows ashes in every direction. And, atop a three-step, stone staircase in the middle of the rubble, sits the statue of the Holy Mother. It appears as though fresh flowers have been placed at the base of her feet.

In Catholic tradition, Mary’s role in humanity's salvation and redemption is paramount.

The tragic devastation in the North Bay has certainly felt an overwhelming amount of harm and loss. And it will take an enormous collective rally to heal from the suffering caused by the wildfires that are still mostly not not contained.
